How Far Did I Run? — Route Distance Map
Trace your route on the map to find out how far you just ran, walked or cycled. You get the total distance, your pace when you enter a finish time, and a rough calorie estimate. No account, no app install — the whole thing runs in your browser and your route never leaves your device.

How to measure how far you ran
- Zoom the map to where you ran — search for your start point if that's faster.
- Click along the path you took, one point per turn or straight stretch. The route is a point-to-point line, so more points on curvy streets means a more accurate total.
- Made a wrong click? Undo point removes the last one, and you can drag any point to nudge the route onto the correct street.
- Enter your time (for example
45:30for 45 minutes 30 seconds) to see your pace per mile or per kilometer.

Map distance vs. GPS watch distance
A fitness watch samples GPS continuously and follows every wiggle of the trail, so its reading is usually a percent or two longer than a hand-traced map route — and tracing tightly around hairpin turns is hard at street zoom. If the two numbers differ by more than a few percent, you probably dropped few points on curved sections: zoom in and add points along the bends. Both approaches are estimates; even two runners' watches on the same run rarely agree perfectly.
How calories are estimated
The estimate uses a simple energy model — body weight multiplied by distance, with a higher factor for running than walking. It ignores hills, wind, fitness level and terrain, so treat the number as an order-of-magnitude guide rather than a measurement. Heart-rate-based estimates from a watch will always beat distance-based ones.

Frequently asked questions
Does this work for walking and cycling too?
Yes — the distance measurement is identical for any activity. The calorie factor changes slightly between running and walking, and cycling is far more efficient, so treat the calorie number as a running/walking estimate only.
Can I measure a route I haven't run yet?
Absolutely — that's half the use case. Trace the loop you're planning before heading out so you know whether it's a 3-miler or a 5-miler.
Is my route uploaded anywhere?
No. Your points exist only in your browser tab. Nothing is stored on our side; if you reload the page the route is gone. Use the PNG or KML buttons if you want to keep a copy.
Can I measure laps around a track?
Yes — zoom in until you can see the lanes, then trace one lap and multiply. The tool shows the traced distance to two decimals, so a 400 m lap is easy to verify.
Why does my watch show a slightly different distance?
Watches record every GPS wiggle, including noise that inflates distance slightly, while a traced route cuts smooth chords between your points. A 1–3% difference is normal; more than that usually means more points are needed on curves.
Does it cost anything?
No — it's free with no signup or usage limits. The site is funded by display ads, which is why there's no paywall on any tool.
