About Radius Canvas
Radius Canvas is a collection of free map measurement tools — radius circles, route distance, area, midpoints and travel-time estimates — built for the questions other map apps make surprisingly hard: “what's within 10 miles of this address?”, “how far did I just run?”, “how many acres is that field?”
No accounts, no limits, no tracking of your locations
Every tool is completely free with no signup, no paywall and no usage caps. More importantly, your measurements happen entirely in your browser: the circles you draw, routes you trace and shapes you measure never leave your device. The only requests that leave the browser are address searches (sent to open geocoding services) and the map tiles themselves.
Built on open data
The site stands on open-source infrastructure: Leaflet for the map engine, OpenStreetMap for map data, and Photon / Nominatim for address search. Huge thanks to the communities behind them.
How it's funded
Display advertising keeps everything free — that's the whole business model. If an ad ever interferes with using a tool, tell us.
Honest limits
Radius and midpoint tools measure straight-line (great-circle) distance, not road distance — roads almost always take longer. Drive times are estimates from standard average speeds, not live traffic. Map data can contain errors, and distances are approximations that depend on the address resolution of the search. For anything critical (legal boundaries, compliance, safety decisions), verify with authoritative sources.
